Wow, I knew there was some stench that seemed familiar.

Oh, congrats on reaching the big 35 00. A milestone that certainly has some kind of significance

I'd venture to guess you are intimidated by a number of people if you are so obsessed with other members [apparently an ex-member]. Please confine your comments to the thread and not direct at making accusations against me. But since you did it here in an otherwise self-"flattering" line in this thread I'm sure it is safe to assume you do this often.

And for you too.

I've read some of the background threads on the two of you and I can clearly see who the trouble makers are.

Please direct your complaints of me and whoever it is I supposedly am to a moderator

Good suggestion and I did just that. A first for me in 3500+ postings! Thank you (and perhaps "see you later alligator"?).

Gotcha.

What happened was is that everyone went off topic by self-promoting a post number - clearly separating themselves into the men they are. And, when confronted with the narcisstic"iosity" then got drunk and started to e-attack those that challenged them - as if a high post count gives them strutting rights.

But that's my opinion.

Hmmm. The stench seems to be a mixture of paranoia and vitriol. Another possibility -- "our man in La Habana" -- comes to mind.

Wouldn't it also be in "bad form" as you say to make accusation without any substantiation ? For your "information" I don't know who this apparently Cuban person is, my name is Peter Barkowsy and I'm certainly not Cuban.

"And speaking of "off topic", what does that have to do with the question..." about Web Urumqi "...in China?"

That's good, Peter. 70 posts since you appeared just over three weeks ago, most of them full of anger and trying to insult or pick a fight with others. Keep venting; that's what this forum is for!

As for "off topic", weren't you the one who hijacked the thread by complaining about Kev's short post mentioning his achievement?

Go away now. Nothing more to see here. There's a good boy.

not much Peter ... i hope you'll get up to that 3500 soon ... you know that Kev's shared some valuable experience that's been most likely useful for many..we deal with bullsh*t in chinese managed schools/centers and when we come on forums we'd like to share it an hopefully stay on that friendly boat, if you know what i mean ... but that's my opinion Wink

darn, i hope i havn't got off topic too much here..Urumqi's bitterly cold now, so hopefully we'll warm our OP up with somethin' ...let's send him a heater or two and a fine house keeper there Smile

anyway, i'd like to know if that Web is Web International or Webster Confused

peace to Peter
and
cheers and beers to our OP that's hopefully feeling better now

19 posts and utterly nothing said.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No, I meant my commute really is 45 to 50 minutes one way to work.If I stop and get some Nang (Uighar bread) then it's one hour each way.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update; News at 11:00...After I left the now largely ignored meeting with my knickers in a knot, apparently the meeting got even more interesting. One teacher called little Vinny McManager a liar, out loud, to his face.

Twice. Or, so I was told.

Result? The interpretor caught me on my day off, sudying alone in an office.

"Do you have a minute?" It was more like a half an hour. She tried her level best to convince me to convince the (justifiably) verbose teacher to tone it down a notch, or little 120 lb. Vinnie will "kill the monkey to scare the rooster." Someone lost face. He's so torn up about it, he's ready to let a very capable, but a far too disobedient teacher go to pasture permanently. As well, he'll never attend a meeting himself again.

Time to take a lottery pool. When does Web Urumqi succumb to Nigerian, Philippino and other non-native speakers?

So, this week will probably tell if someone's going to get fired or if someone else is going to bring the criticism down a notch. No one's going to get fined any longer for missing a meeting. Teachers will continue to get fined if they come to work late. That's not going to change.

No one has been assigned as the individual to locate housing for new hires. The person whose job it was to locate housing and deal with the PSB concerning visas has been demoted. She's strictly doing accounting functions now. It's a mystery who's going to do visas, visa extensions and health exams now. The roles lost in the demotion have been lumped onto the tutors. Of course no commensurate increase in pay has been set aside for their newly acquired responsibilities.

The new teacher finally has a new place to live in. After 6 days in a hostel, he's actually living in a real house.

By now, you should be getting an accurate impression. After being open for 3 years, systems and procedures still do not exist for anything except dealing with teachers that come to work late.

Everything is piece-meal, ad hoc, ad lib; call it what you may, but my original comment stands: Are these the people that'll be the next superpower in the 21st century?

Try to keep the thread on track, eh? This forum provides a valuable service for teachers trying to research information on the attractiveness of potential employment offers.
