If you've worked here a few years past, left and then returned, can you still claim these old taxes?

I worked here in 2004. What's more, if you can get your taxes expedited, do you just have to leave the country or do you have to be returning for good?

I'm not sure if this is possible, but it appears another foreigner I'd met said you can get your taxes expedited. You have to get your employer to agree with you on this though, so what that entails I don't know.

Apparently tax forms aren't sent out until March, correct? I've contacted my previous employers so am awaiting the forms in the mail. Yet I'm not sure when they'll send them, so perhaps want to see if I'll get them expedited.

Suppose the tax bureau may be my only option, but want to save a trip if anyone can give me some knowledge on all this.

My accountant dropped off the witholding statements for all my staff last Friday, but tax season doesn't start until May, I believe. Also, expedited service is only available if you are leaving for good, and there are rules for when and how it can be done. I believe it can only be done a maximum of two weeks before you are leaving, but don't quote me on that.

You're absolutely right. I'd read this in a pamphlet the Tax Bureau will give you, just today.

They did say, however, that you should get your witholding staments in January or February. My employer is insisting it's March. But me thinks that the sooner you get them, the better, and I was going to feign I'd be leaving the country for good and get them expedited.

They want to send them to me in March, and if I do have to leave for good, than I'll know I always have them.

I was hoping, too, that if I had to make another visa run, which I'd thought I was in the midst of doing, I'd reclaim my taxes and get some extra cash. Thought I'd get away for Chinese New Years.
