So I've just moved here and I'm moving into my apartment tomorrow, but my current homestay "mom" says that the city has no running water until Feb 6th? And my friend's homestay mom says that this is a regular occurance like, for months? What is going on and how can I ensure that I can shower? Appparently my current house has a reserve, but I don't know about my apartment and I don't know how to know when this will happen again!

I've never lived in Guadalajara, but I am an amateur hydrologist of sorts.

You should just count on it happening any time. Especially between now and the start of the rainy season. Which hopefully will be in May or early June but could be as last as mid August.

Welcome to the rest of the world.

Indeed. Go take a gander at Lake Chapala while you're in GDL...swiftly disappearing it is.

I don't know if GDL is like DF, but here, they often do water main work between Feb and April. They're doing some now, so some sections of the city have reduced water pressure.

I have lived here for 4 months right now, and for 6 months two years ago. This is the first time I've seen it happen. Some colonias are not affected, including mine. Very Happy

I saw on the news yesterday that the water commission is doing repair work somewhere, so it's a scheduled lack of water, rather than a dry-season induced one. They did say something about being able to call them for a 'pipa' of water if you're in dire straits. The thing I didn't catch is when it's supposed to end. Sorry. Sad
