In my college days, there was a Verbosity Book, to which I contributed copiously. I can't compete nowadays.

Dear Capergirl,

"I'm the top female poster? Cool! "

Ah, but are you? Who can say for sure? In the wonderful world of cyberspace, gender can be so easily disguised.
Regards,
John (or is it, perhaps, Joan?)

Dear JaneSlat,

Confusion reigns beyond just the nebulous edges of cyberspace. When I got back from Asia, one of the first things I noticed was that the voices of the Guys sounded suspiciously like the voices of the Women, and vice versa. Note to self: Was it something in the tapwater? Or was it something to do with the influence of graduate school? Even my engineering friend has turned into a PC softie, though fortunately he still resembles a man.

Note to others: no, let's not restart the sex war thread; really not my intention, honest. Wink But I am curious about this weird phenom. is it just me?

PostPosted: Tue Jan 06, 2004 8:05 pm    Post subject: I am Man; hear me roar Reply with quote

Dear dmb and khmerhit,
Mama mia - what have I done? OK, first off - yes, I AM a man (just checked, to make sure), although one time Saudia DID make out my ticket for a "Jane Flat. . . .". I had to explain to the Saudi ticket agent just why this might cause some problems at Customs:

Agent: But only small mistake; just some letters.

Me: Ah, actually it's a sex change operation. What if the name on YOUR ticket were Fatima Al Qahtani?

However, it IS a fact that gender (and a lot of other things) can be disguised in cyberspace. I rather doubt there's much, if any, of that going on here on Dave's (hmm, is Dave REALLY a guy?), so in your case, khmerhit, I'd stop drinking the tap water. Besides, I'm not so sure one can reliably identify a person's gender simply from reading his/her postings. Guess we'll all just have to take it on faith.
Regards,
John (NOT Jane)

Just out of interset John( not Jane-yeah right who are you trying to convince?-Joan) How did you check to make sure? Is there a step by step process to find out if you are a John or a Jane?
Words will suffice. No need to submit photographic evidence. Not to me anyway. But you never know who is lurking

Dear dmb,
Well, if you need to be told how one checks to make sure of his/her gender, I think it might be time for a long talk with your Dad. Just tell him you want to discuss the birds and the bees. Only 2 steps are required, however:
1. Lower trousers and undergarments
2. Look down

Regards,
Assuredly John
