This is probably way to much information for this forum, but this question is really bugging me. I have genital warts. Will I be rejected for my visa because of this? |

I would not tell anyone should they ask any quesitons during the "physical exam."
The only STD's they check for - BY BLOOD TEST - is HIV and Syphilis
There is no other STD check |

Yes, there is no goolie examination (although some of those 1984esque nurses might give a good fondle - could be a niche market). |

No, you will not be rejected. I know four people with genital warts or genital herpes simplex virus. |

I can't remember my STD classes anymore, but someone must know, this is actually very common, but most people rarely have symptoms. I am told by my wife that half the population here has some kind of herpes

sorry this is off topic now...
there was a thread on dating some time ago and someone had mentioned to be careful for 'std's'. are warts/genital herpes 'common' in the 20-40 population? are you taking your health/life in your own hands by not using a condom with a girlfriend? can you say ...hey, lets 'both' go get checked and her not freak out?
dude - do us all a favor and GO TO A DOCTOR AND HAVE THEM BURNED OFF. |

I dont think they check for dikk-pimples on the exam.. Just a blood test for HIV and Syphillis.. But who knows.. |
There are actually supposed to do a physical examination. There is a form and everything. On mine they looked at me, asked me if I wore glasses, and stamped everything as normal; something like 20 boxes. I have high blood pressure, take medication, didn't take it that day and it would have been so high they may have deported me. But, of course, they checked nothing.
They don't care about the exam. Only the blood work matters along with the x-ray looking for TB |

Thanks to Korea, I have high blood pressure too. The doctor told me so during my medical and I asked him if it was a problem, to which he said something along the lines of "No it's okay but you might die young".
The medical was fun actually, all those rooms with the wacky doctors, and finished in about 30 minutes. If I had my way (and more cash) I'd be going for the medical every second day. |

I really kinda wonder about the "tests". I've written about a cardio, I think. The console was as big as a cafeteria table and probably served time measuring seismic activity what with all the needles smearing black ink across a two-foot wide roll of paper.
No short arm inspection-- at least not uncovered. Once, a lady holding a baby and a guy with a bag of live chickens who followed me through the whole ordeal spent a lot of time looking at my crotch while I was wearing just underwear.
There was the obligatory blood siphoning with a knitting needle. They gave me the head of a Q-tip to use to plug the hole. I presume that that was the STD test. I remember the bloodletter sitting behind a Plexiglas screen wearing TWO pairs of freshly-changed gloves and motorcycle goggles. She held the vial of blood at arm's length .
I told the guy from the FAO that the doctor or med assistant had nothing to worry about.
He said, "You can't be sure."
I said, "Yes I can. I've never had sex."
He said, "Really. That is very unusual for an American, no?"
I said, "Yeah, I spose, but I'm saving myself for marriage-- my SECOND marriage."
Nobody laughed, even after the FAO guy translated. Everybody kinda backed away from me real slow and quit watching me as I sat shaking in my drawers. |

ohhhhhhhhhhhh come on aussie - when I'm getting my STD test we're usualy cracking open the cans. One would have thought a giggle or two would have been in order - but obviously the joke was at a level of sophistication that was way above its audience
The funniest with the STD stuff is indeed the pants dropping - and standing there with the floor cleaner/janitor/security guard and next 5 patients all giving their comments!!!!!! |
