Hello
I have recently been offered a position within the Royal Guard of Oman. It states in my terms that the offer includes 3 bedroom apartment/house.
Does anyone know or have any information about the type, location or quality of government housing.
Also is it normal for correspondence from Oman to be very slow? |

Gulf employers are notoriously slow to respond on applications.
We used to have a poster here that taught with this organization who is hopefully reading. But, if not, based on my experience in Oman and government contracts, the housing should be completely acceptable.

The Royal Guard come under the Diwan of Royal Court Affairs, so the accommodation ought to be all right.
Not all military accommodation, however, is of the same standard. Teachers working for the Royal Air Force of Oman have sometimes been shown into quarters where the furniture and fittings are brand new. Others have been gioven accommodation that is old, stained, covered in cigarette burn marks, and where the bathrooms have been festooned with corroded pipes - no plug in handbasins, no rose on the shower etc.
The Royal Guard Officers' Mess is excellent, but try to find out where your accommodation will be in relation to it. |
