Would there be any work in China teaching journalism or writing , for those who may have experience in that field? Please don't laugh me off the forum ... I know there are some journalism schools in China, though they may not teach the kind of freedom-of-the-press-oriented things taught in the west. This would be for a person with a bachelor's degree, no advanced degree. |

There are plenty of universities that will be looking for someone to teach Writing. Few such jobs are likely to be so specialized as to be actually teaching Journalism, although some of your students could be majoring in this. You should know, by the way, that their level of English may be such that even a basic English Conversation class would be challenging for some of them. I would not expect to be teaching too many little Hemingway Wangs. Also, the workload for teaching such a course can be much greater, but the pay and class sizes are usually no different than for any other. Your qualification would be the minimum usually required for such jobs. Many schools also ask for a couple years of teaching experience or a TEFL certificate. |
