I just found the following on Aristotle's website:
TAKE NOTE: The Hong Kong office has now changed its policy, and are no longer issuing student visas if you have just been on an ARC/work permit/resident visa. They will tell you that you need to fly to your home country, but there are some visa offices still allowing this.
Is this true??!!? Please god, tell me it ain't!!!! |

The Hong Kong office has made it almost impossible for previous Taiwan residents to get visas in Hong Kong. If you have an ARC in your passport you will find it very difficult to get a multiple entry visa or anything else in Hong Kong.
If you have never applied for a visa at the Hong Kong office before just get a new passport and tell them you have never been to Taiwan before.
Apply for a multiple entry visa for business purposes.
