Does any one have any experience with selling vehicles in CR? I plan to drive to CR from The US in a Diesel pickup. I would like to sell it once I get there. It will be a great adventure getting to CR. I don't plan on getting my money back on the truck.

I realize this is obvious, but make sure you do your research on rules governing vehicles on the border crossings. You're gonna be running into a lot of people wanting to squeeze extra money out of you.

As to selling a US-registered vehicle in CR, I haven't the faintest idea. Depends on your contacts in CR - if you can register it to Costa Rica it's going to be a lot easier.

I did it with a used Jeep Cherokee and I'll never do it again. First of all, yes, you can register it in Costa Rica, but be prepared to pay alot of money for importation tax. It depends on the year, make, and model. Cost me thousands of dollars. You will spend one to two days in line at the registro nacional doing all the paperwork and eventually will get a metal license plate. If the pickup has an automatic transmission you will have more problems because the preference here is for standard. The other thing is travelling thru Central America. Costa Rica is relatively safe but I can't say the same for the other countries on the way down. I recommend selling the truck where you are and save yourself alot of headaches and money. Just my two cents.
