Hi!

My China job search is wrecking my head! There so so many schools.
Anyway, I was offered a position in Shane English School in Hangzhou. Has anyoneworked for them?
What is Hangzhou like? Is there a good social scene for foreigners?
Thanks!
Dawn

I will start by saying, I have visited Hangzhou but not ived there. My impression was that it would be a great place to live. The major drawback for me was that it was expensive. Doing a Google search will get you many websites but from my experience of the cities I have lived in are often out of date or aimed at tourists so not as useful as first hand personal experiences.

As for Shane, I wouldn't choose them either. I only know of two branches, Shanghai and Xi'an, and both farm you out to other schools. I also know Xi'an teachers who were not paid for a long time and had to fight for their pay and correct visas. I did not work for them personally but had three very good friends who did. This was over two years ago and I also know things change....................
