Does anyone here speak Esperanto?
...No, I'm not mad!
I've started learning and would like to share thoughts and experiences with others. Methods of learning, whether this is a good exercise for students who are weak on grammar (you can teach yourself the basics in a few days) and help with their learning of English etc.
Many people have asked me, "Why bother?" and I answer that it's a bit like the question, "Why climb Everest?". Because I can, I want to and it's good to know something that most people don't. |

| If you can't find any Esperanto pals here, there are sure to be forums and the help you're looking for somewhere on the Internet. As a first attempt, this search "http://www.google.com/search?q=learning+esperanto+forums" looks promising. |

I think it really would help students with their English. The few Mexicans I've met that speak another romance language have much better English, and learn much faster. The first language kind of rewires/reactivates your brain for languages making the third one much easier to learn. |

Thanks 4 your replies...I thought this one would die in the water!
Yeah, Esperanto is a kind of Romance language. Although it is supposed to be a universal language, I think it is much harder for the speakers of Eastern languages. And it is particulary good for Spanish speakers, with its regular pronunciation and many common roots. |
