Teaching Saudi Air Force in the hills and country...what's it like? Seems like the early compounds in Saudi of the 1970s.
Does anyone have any information about teaching in Taif???? |

It all depends on the employer. That is CRUCIAL. Get the wrong one and your life will be miserable 24/7 |

Taif's a lovely place. What exactly is the job, and who is the employer. |

I can only tell you that the weather is much better than Jeddah. I spent one year in Taif working for Raytheon and really enjoyed my time there. Some people thought it was boring, but the surroundings made up for it.

Would Raytheon employ female instructors? Their website insists they do not discriminate on any basis, sex, race, sexual orientation, etc., but for this job, there is a note that one must be eligible for a KSA employment visa. |

No, unfortunately not. The students are male. Women are not permitted to teach males in SA. There are no exceptions to this is far as I am aware.

So I guess they really don't discriminate against sexual orientation. Have fun, boys! |

Yeah, it definitely sucks. But, in all fairness, Raytheon can't be blamed. The Saudis would refuse to issue you a visa for that job. Just believe this from one who's been there, you're not missing out on anything by not teaching those students.

Yes the company is Raytheon and they seem to have a good rep. in most places in the world. Their contracts with the military are just like those of Booze Allen, Vinnell (Northrop Grumman) and a few other major contractors. Word was that Lockheed was looking for 30 ESL/EFL instructor for positions in Kabul teaching professional educators so they, in turn, could teach their own people. And DLI just hired 10 new instructors for a contract ESL/EFL positions in either Kabul or Iraq...jobs seem to be had if you know where to look...man or woman. |
