What do you mean "at the gates?" If you want a 60-day tourist visa, you will have to get that ahead of time through the nearest TECO.
Check fares on the internet. The cheapest onward flight I found was to Bangkok. |

Air Cebu has very cheap flights. If you are fortuante, you can get under $4,000NT incl. taxes. Go thru their website. Play around with the dates. |

I thought, as a UK national, I get a 30 day tourist visa on landing provided I have a ticket for an on onward destination. |

Perhaps I'm confused because I'm under the assumption that you are coming to look for work and intend to stay here. In that case, you'll need to get a 60-day visitor visa ahead of time, which can be converted to a work visa later on. Other types of entries including the 30-day visa free landing cannot be converted, and you will have to do a visa run if you decide to stay. And yes, you will still need an onward or return ticket in order to get the 60-day visa. |

Thanks for your help, guys. I got my 60 day visa today, in Seoul.
In the event, they didn't even ask to see the ticket but I think the guy might have seen it when I gave him my photos, and not bothered to ask.
--------
If you are reading for information on visas:
The guy asked for a letter of invitation to be faxed from my prospective employer - who is acting as the friend/contact. My future boss didn't fax it to them but emailed me a copy which I printed and faxed rather than handing it in personally. Ended up dropping in today anyway to see how it was going, the fax was there but the guy wan't. Another person checked it over and handed me my passport with the visa already in it.
It took 24 hours. |
