Just a general question, how high or low is the likelihood for someone who left a school on good terms, for unavoidable personal reasons, to be re-hired some years later?
Any thoughts on that or experiences? |

I know quite a few who have done so. I did it once on a spur of the moment short-term contract when I was passing through the city and stopped in to visit. I have had ex-employers suggest that I come back.
If your ex-supervisor is still there... or another admin person that you know well, send them an email and ask. Or just send in your CV and see what they say. The worst that can happen is that they say no.

Thanks VS for the positive reply! Wasn't sure if schools in the M.E. would be as flexible about this kind of thing as the private sector is. |

I've known of several cases where this has happened. Peo0ple have returned to jobs in RAFO, at BAE Systems and at SQU.
The crucial thing is that you left the previous employer on good terms. Under those circ umstances, Arab Gulf employers are likely to welcome your return. You are, after all, a known quantity. It is far safer for the employee to take you back, than to go for someone completely new who performed well at an interview but who is dragging all kinds of baggage. |

i think having an employer rehire you can be a good sign and would suggest indicating this on your cv. no employer would rehire an instructor if he / she wasn't doing the job well (unless they were thoroughly desperate, of course). I used to work on short contracts (3 months or 6 months) and was rehired on numerous occassions. Generally a good sign, i think.

If they liked you the first time round they'll be more than happy to have you back. There is a small chance of having a psychotic manager but that is not the norm as far as rehiring is concerned. |

I have several colleagues who have left and then returned to the same employer. I have also had a previous employer suggest I come back to work for them.
Good luck! |
