Last November I got @ 520 colones for the buck. Just looked at the current rate and it's @ 485 colones! If the dollar continues its freefall, then I guess even Central/South America is out. Hasta la vista Baby!

Look at the bright side! The Bush Dollar, AKA the American Peso, makes U.S. goods and labor extremely cheap. U.S. labor will soon be among the cheapest in the world. If you're willing to work for what soon will be the equivalent of three or four Pound Sterling an hour, who can compete? Not even the Cambodians! Of course, you could get an EFL job at an equivalent wage somewhere in the third world and actually have a life, and a girlfriend who doesn't outweigh you, but that would be disloyal, U.S. industry is soon going to need all the workers it can lay its filthy hands on (of course, the ownership won't be U.S.; they won't have any particular nationality at all, that's globilization).

The dollar isn't at 485 just yet. Here is a link that gives the exchange rate for all of the official places to change $$ and it's updated daily.

http://www.bccr.fi.cr/flat/bccr_flat.htm

However, I have heard that it's expected that the dollar may go down as low as 450.

US $$ back up there now against the CR colon. How's the inflation now in CR? Have basic items shot up in price?
