This is my first post and have been reading about the difficulty people have been going through with visas and the new laws.

I was planning on taking my CELTA in Prague in August and then look for a job. Is this still going to be possible?? I am from the US.

I realize it is going to be a ton of leg work and red tape but is it plausible to get a long-term visa and work legally?

Does anyone know of schools that help with the visa process??

Hi nolegirl!

Don't worry; it is a hassle with the red tape but language schools are helping out in general much more now and the process for obtaining a long-term visa for N.Americans is becoming easier and easier.

The Czech Republic (as well as other Central/Western/Eastern European countries) needs its N.American teachers and you will have the opportunity to take your course and then begin teaching legally in Prague on a work visa. Period.

August is one of the best times of the year to take your certification because the new academic year for language schools begins in Sept/early Oct.

Most schools assist with the visa process now as there is simply a demand for this service.
IF your school doesn't assist with this process then my advice is to find a Czech friend and take them out for a few meals in exchange for trudging along with you to the work visa offices.
Still though, most schools do assist now with the visa info.

All the best!
