This place in Ikebukero is really good. The people who run it are really friendly too. It also has a nice atmosphere!

There is it's called "Good Day Books."

Used to go often, over a period of 3 years, but then one day they were rude to me so I vowed never to return.

Maybe an isolated incident but who cares "Once bitten twice shy!"

This affront sent me up to Caravan in Ikebukero, 1st time, where they took my 10 kgs of books off my hands and were friendlty to boot.

I've also found that they tend to be cheaper and give better credit and cash exchange rates and have an ever broadening sellection.

It's a little over a year old so it took a while to fill in the store.

Anyone else know of any other stores in and around Tokyo?

Mike L is not alone in his unfortunate experience of Good Day Books. The guy who runs it has also managed to offend me and quite a few of my friends over the years. For a long time they were they only show in town but nowadays I go to Caravan if I can.

There's also a small, fairly new shop in Kichijoji called Bondi books. To find it take the central exit then the road that heads away from the station slightly to the right , past the citibank ATM. You need to be on the right hand side of this road; pass the Shamrock and turn right after the big department store. Then watch out for signs saying 'English Books'.

The second hand book stalls around Jimbocho station are also worth a look.

I read about one in Japanzine, which is a free monthly from Nagoya.
The bookstore is called the Blue Parrot, and it is between Shibuya and Omotesando. Phone number is 03-5485-5558

I haven`t been to Good Day Books in a long time, but I never encountered rudeness there. I am curious to know if anyone thinks it is a reasonable place to sell used books.

I hear the Kanda/Jimbocho area is a good place to find used books, but I haven`t been since it is too far away for me.

anybody know about Wantage Books in Kobe or any used bookstores in Osaka?

cheers to blue parrot...they are a cool funky little store which has my business for now...even though it is probably simpler to get to caravan, i just never make it to ikebukuro. in nov. to celebrate their 1 year in business they gave out a bottle of Canadian wine to everyone who spent over 2000 yen. now thats marketing. Smile

Canada also has a vineyard region in British Columbia (east of the rockies) that produces several passable wines. It is noted for its ice wine industry. (Spot the canuck!)
