Hi everyone!

I intend to do a tefl course in Barcelona and I was wondering which month is the best to do it, august or september? Will finishing the course at the end of august instead of the end of september be better for my opportunities to get a job?

I'd say it won't make a lot of difference (though the ideal thing would probably be to finish mid-September ,-)!

Language school terms usually start first week in October, and many schools will wait right until the last minute (until they see their student numbers) before they employ people.

If I had to make a choice, I'd say August, always assuming that I could afford to live until the end of October for my first pay check.

If you did a course in September, you'd want to be applying for jobs in the second half of your course, which you might not have a lot of time for, but it would avoid that month gap, not on the course, but probably not working either.

You can pick up work in September, but October is a much more likely start date.

The language academy where I did my cert offered it every month except August. All the trainers went on holiday at this time. Not sure how widespread the practice is. I did my cert in July and had to go home until mid-September. August is a quiet month-no work to be found.
