Well, looks like we've got a 15% rise as of 1st September - brings the top rate for a Language Center person up to just over 16k per month.
Not the best rise, but certainly a lot better than nothing - so that was 15% a year ago, and now another - means top rate will have risen from just over 12k in 18 months. |

The inflation rate in the UAE is between 15 -20%, so it'll be a few months before we break even. |

What's the school like to teach at? I've heard there are many benefits such as many club memberships. |

For those expats who don't pay rent, what might the inflation rate be? |

I'm not sure I understand your question. Inflation affects everyone's cost-of-living, but I'm sure you know that. Could you be more specific?
Most western ex-pats don't pay rent out-of-pocket but a couple of years ago, it seemed like subsidizing housing allowances from salaries was going to become the trend--then the caps came and many employers, aware of the, raised housing allowances.
Some employers--like the University of Sharjah--provide housing.
Anyone considering a job here should do a litttle research on current inflation rates, especially during this era of skyrocketing oil prices and windfall revenues. |

Well, you can use the (uni-sex) sports facilities, I suppose, but that's it (I think). There's no faculty club - or at least not one with the normal facilities for staff and families, such as tennis courts, basketball court, weights room and swimming pool. Having this would make it a happier and healthier place to work.
I honestly can't think of any other benefits which weren't already mentioned on other threads (housing / flights / gratuity / utilities). |
