Did anyone receive this email?

It is a matter of history that when the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower found the victims of the death camps, he ordered all possible photographs to be taken and for the German people from the surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead. He did this he said, in words to this effect; 'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the track of history some ******* will get up and say that this never happened.
'All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing' Edmund Burke

IN MEMORIAL
This week, the UK removed the Holocaust from it's school curriculum because it 'offended' the Muslim population because they say it never occurred.

This is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easy each country is giving into it.

It is now more than 60 years since the 2nd. World War in Europe ended. This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the 6 million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic priests who were murdered, massacred, raped, starved, burned and humiliated while German and Russian people looked the other way!

Now more than ever, with Iran among others, claiming the Holocaust to be a myth, it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.
This e-mail is intended to reach 40 million people worldwide! Be a link in the memorial chain and help distribute this around the world.
Don't just delete this, it will only take a minute to pass it on..

The whole idea of this email kind of annoyed me as a British citizen and friend of Islam and an educator living in Indonesia..I felt it was important to try to help set things straight..so I sent this reply to everyone in the CC lists on the chain email whether I knew them or not..

That email was a classic example of how propaganda is replicated and spread by people who don't know any better and pass it on without question! One of the main reason the German 'Third Reich' was so successful is that the German public (and others in the world) believed their well-designed propaganda.

I do, however, fully support the preservation of memories of such historical and tragic events. My mother's family were among some of the people persecuted and killed. She grew up in a U.S. Army refugee camp near Ludwigsburg, Germany.
Despite that, my motives for writing this are not subjective, I just feel it's important to find facts for oneself...Naturally, I do not suggest blindly believing the media or the BBC article below, either!

I live in The Republic Of Indonesia, the largest Muslim country on the planet, and in the last 7 years of travelling, living and working here I have never heard one person either a student or teacher, young or old, or Muslim or whatever, utter a denial of the holocaust or any support for the ideologies of Hitler, his officers or the citizens of Germany at that time.

That, is a bit information that you can count as fact!

UK government acts on hoax e-mail

The hoax e-mail has been circulating for months
The UK government is taking the unprecedented step of writing to every embassy to stop a false e-mail rumour about Holocaust teaching being banned.
A widely-circulated e-mail has falsely claimed that schools in the UK will stop teaching the Holocaust because it might cause offence to Muslims.

Schools Secretary Ed Balls says he wants to "put an end once and for all to the myth" spread by the e-mail.

He says teaching the Holocaust remains "non-negotiable" in England.

This formal government rebuttal of a hoax e-mail has been prompted by a persistent rumour that "UK schools" are set to remove the Holocaust from the curriculum.

'No evidence'

The e-mail claims that this is a response to fears of offending Muslims - and it calls for the e-mail to be distributed in a "memorial chain" in protecting the memory of the Holocaust's victims.

There are also versions of the e-mail claiming that teaching of the Holocaust has been banned at the University of Kentucky - presumably in a confusion over "UK".

The e-mail continues to be published on many blogs and websites.

A spokeswoman for the Department for Children, Schools and Families says the department regularly has to handle inquiries about this hoax - and that it wants to put a stop to the confusion.

The BBC News website also repeatedly receives e-mails, many from international readers, asking about the validity of this supposed curriculum ban.

The government is now acting to refute the e-mail, sending a statement to embassies and the "world media".

"I want to put an end once and for all to the myth that the Holocaust is not being taught in schools or is being removed from the curriculum," writes Mr Balls.

Auschwitz visits

"I am pleased to confirm that this is absolutely not the case. Teaching of the Holocaust is compulsory in all secondary schools between the ages of 11 and 14.

"We are clear that there are certain non-negotiable subjects, which are protected in schools; one of those is the Holocaust.

"There is no evidence that schools are breaking the rules and not teaching the Holocaust.

"We also fund visits for young people from every secondary school and college to go to Auschwitz."

The UK has four education systems with separate curricula. This compulsory teaching of the Holocaust applies to schools in England - but there are no suggestions of a "ban" on the subject in other parts of the UK either.

The starting point of the e-mail is believed to have been a report from the Historical Association in April 2007, which warned that some teachers appeared reluctant to teach areas of history which could be considered controversial with some pupils.

This included concerns about teaching the Crusades to Muslim pupils - and worries that teaching the Holocaust could prompt an anti-Semitic response.

Be a link in a chain of truth and help distribute this around the world.

These e-mails are just another attempt to create an even larger bias against Muslims throughout the world. Who would ever believe that the UK, a place that lost so many lives during WWII, would ban the teaching of the Holocaust?

Furthermore...I know of NO Muslims who refute the existence of the Holocaust, nor who are offended by its teaching in public schools.

It is complete rubbish. Propaganda-filled rubbish.

Sorry Amani but they do...Indonesia has no relations with Israel and doesn't recognize them as a country. Malaysia also. And these are probably the 2 most moderate islamic countries. Hate to think what the others are like then. Also in the UK polygamy for muslims is now legal, a way to appease this minority.

Excuse me? My step-father, the man I loved as a child, was a Muslim, as was half of my family. They have never denied the Holocaust, nor has any other Muslim I've known (as I previously stated) ever denied the Holocaust.

They're usually busy, you know, living their lives, working and trying to take care of their families.

What does this have to do with them denying the Holocaust? Or not teaching the Holocaust in the UK? I need to see some correlation.

And for the record, because I know someone is probably gonna go there: anti-israel=/=anti-semetic.

I wish you would be clear in your posts. What is this supposed to mean? What are you implying? I don't mean to insult you, but as of now, I don't have a very good impression of your ability to critically think of Muslims not as auto conglomerated religious zealots, but as people with their own desires and motivations.

...

In terms of religion, Muslim people are the second largest group in the UK. You can't just decide to turn your back on 1.6 million people because it's not attractive to you. Why so dismayed? Since when has religious tolerance been so disdainful?

Are you Muslim? I am not, so maybe you have had a different experience than I.
