I just received my wife's CoE and sent it to her in China. She should be here in 2 weeks or so. The problem I have is that I used a current contract for a teaching position that I don't intend to work for.

I used contract with company A to sponsor my wife's visa. I have that extremely exciting orientation with company A in a few days. I have no intentions of working for them, but pretending I do because I don't want them to tell the gov't that I no longer work for them, and have them cancel my wife's CoE or visa before she gets here.

Now, what can be done. I already have prospects lined up with other companies, and will tell Company A eventually, when my wife is here and safe. Can Company A do such a thing (as call the gov't and cancel the visa)?

By the way, they are an ALT company, not eikawa.

Thanks for the help and advice in advanced.

Why dont you want to work for the company that you were hired with?
If you wanted your conscience a little clean you should stay with the ALT company at least until the end of the summer, at the end the school semester. It seems a little slimy for you to simply use them to get you and your wives visa...those things take lots of work. And now with school starting up in just a few weeks they would be stranded...its not really the best thing to do to them. Just my two cents though...

I would normally agree with your two cents, but the company I am dealing with has mismanagement written all over it. They lied to me about working full-time, cause now it is 4 days a week, they want me traveling about 1 1/2 hours to get to work, and they are trying to get me to sign a "labour agreement" to say that they have the full rights to deny me vacation time, even though it was promised before. Also, I have read many bad stories about this company and I noticed that many teachers were not paid what was due. I also read that they are on the verge of bankruptcy, and I don't want to end up like a lot of NOVA teachers, missing pay and no job security if the company goes under half-way through the year.

I see...so you have a reason to leave? Do they know you are unhappy? I guess if they try and screw you, you have the right to leave...working with a bad job is nooot so fun...
I am pretty sure that they cant trace your visa, the only thing you might worry about (and I didnt even know this happened until recently) is that when you try to renew your visa, your old company has to give some papers to immigration. I think that if you cant get those papers then you cant renew. So be sure that your new job will have what it takes to get you a completely new visa (some jobs say they cant sponsor a visa) when the time comes. Well unless your company gives the papers but I really doubt it..
The reason I know this is because our contract is up next week and they gave us some papers saying that we would need this next year at immigration...

Read this post on a similar situation. Pay attention to poster #5.

Your employer can't cancel your visa. Immigration does. Your employer can cancel his sponsorship of it.

But in my case, I am my wife's sponsor. I just used the school contract to get her CoE. Since my contract is no longer valid, then the sponsorship is a bit of a lie, no (even though when I applied for it, it was legit)? She applied for her visa yesterday, and is expected to get it by next Thursday (March 27th). Hope all goes well.

Thanks for the help.

As long as your visa is still valid, she is eligible to get hers.
