Word has it that the dean has been knocked off his throne. According to the students the el staff are still harassing them to their hearts content.

I am still here with my illustrious colleagues the terrible twins. Sorry that you are still bitter about your failures as a teacher and your inability to contribute anything positive.

I was a student at ukh when it started. My former classmates have not had a teacher who could teach them reading or writing without humiliating them. I left and am school teacher in Kirkuk again. My friends at ukh are still stuck with bad elementary school teachers in ivory towers. The nice teachers have gone. I hope my city hawler will have a real university one day. I don't advice good teachers to go there till that day.

Who needs friends when you've got colleagues like that? How many teachers would willingly call themselves a monkey? I've applied three times through their recruiter. No response. Not even a "please don't be offended but you don't meet our requirements". Not what you'd expect from a place which has received so much local publicity. Pay is in dollars I suppose. I doubt EL teachers hazard pay. Don't forget that Kurdistan is "Northern" Iraq!!

Mouse

Sorry you haven't received a response to your application. They will probably be recruiting again in the next few months for the next academic year. As for my user name - it is a play on words.

University of Kurdistan Hawler - UKH

Hawler - Kurdish name for the city of Erbil

Howler Monkey - Common variety of Monkey found in South America (Where I taught previously).

Mouse, please read the previous comments about my university. Mr mistral was one of the very first teachers. I was a student then. If the recruiter thinks you're a "suitable" candidate, she will tell you everything you want hear to get you there.
