For those who are considering teaching EFL in Mexico and are married and getting your marriage license apostilled, you should also ask about getting a live signature also.
I believe it's the Secretary of State who has to actually sign the marriage license and THEN it has to be apostilled. Since I was married eleven years ago, I had to get another apostille for my marriage license and when asked what country it was for I was told that it would also need to have a live siganture or Mexico would NOT accept it even if apostilled.
It may be because I was requesting a copy to be apostilled and sent to me, but she was very clear that Mexico would not accept an apostilled marriage license copy without a live signature. Make sure you check with your State if getting a copy from the state apostilled. |
