Does anyone know anything about Al Salam in Al-Qasim? I've heard mention of English Instructor positions there but know nothing about them and can't seem to find anything here.

Any information would be appreciated.

I completed a two-year contract with them several years ago.

In Feb I responded to a posting by some recruiting agency called WNS, unaware that they were representing Al-Salam Aircraft Company. I discovered it after one of the teachers called me in response to my resume. The difference is that the school has moved from KKMC (King Khaled Military City) to Qassim.

The salary has apparently gone down, from $4070 when I worked there to $3850 now. Their annual bonus of $5000 and annual travel allowance of $3800 are unchanged. By the way, I considered the latter one of the real benefits of the contract--cash for travel rather than tickets, especially considering the hoops I had to jump through at my most recent school in KSA to get that annual ticket--which was on Saudia.

I can't speak for conditions at Qassim, but conditions at KKMC were rough to say the least. The "compound" had no facilities other than a swimming pool surrounded by desert that I don't remember seeing anyone use, the class scheduling was tied to the prayer schedule with at times no notice of a change in the start time of the first class of the day (thus no teachers present and the Saudi staff fuming), and the location was R-E-M-O-T-E. When I worked for them they required employees to fly Saudia in and out of KSA in spite of giving us cash in lieu of tickets. The rep who called me said they've dropped that requirement (a good thing, too, since it was an extremely unpopular policy when I was there).

Hi,

I currently work with Al Salam in Qassim. This base is very different from KKMC. Its much more isolated here in Qassim and there are few facilities. As I understand it KKMC has restaurants on base and even a private zoo. There is nothing like that here. Plus we live in Trailers, not villas. PM me for more details and piccies.
