Not to sound like a broken record, but welcome back Capergirl! Very Happy I, like everyone else, always enjoy reading your posts. Hopefully, this guy will grow up and show some class in the future. Speaking of which, you are showing a lot of class by not exposing this character and giving him a second chance...if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't be able to show the same restraint!

Cheers,
Kirk

Aye, Aye, Captain. If you ask me, I'd say the lass was one of the classier acts in the Federation's Service. Beam her aboard! Laughing

Capergirl, indeed, welcome back. I missed your words very much. I currently work for a branch of the Turkish Mafia, otherwise known as a private K12 college, and will happily let them know about your predicament if the need be. They are very protective of English teachers.

Don't let the b@stards grind you down!

I'm certainly glad you are still with us capergirl. I'll be the first person to stand behind johnslat and Gordon waiting to kick the dead body of your verbal assailant. The dead know no fury like a cowards wrath.

Any way welcome back. Your twelve steps to Daveaholic recovery was a wonderful post and I'm quite fond of your current avatar as well.

Yes Foster, Gordon's my real name. I don't think anyone is going to mess with Capergirl now with her new avatar.

I'm very glad to see you back, Capergirl.

I'm glad to see that you're not afraid to live your life as you see best.

I'll also get in line behind Gordon and johnslat: people have to be free to lead their own lives. I've seen too much first-hand oppressin )(#)#$)&(*)&* to last me several lifetimes of Wolves.

If said person wants to discuss the matter further, here I stand. Evil or Very Mad

Have fun with your continued posting, Capergirl.

Welcome back ma'am!

Love the idea of choosing Eowyn as your new avatar -- no-one messes with THAT babe...

Good to see you have come back. No jerk has the right to make you feel cr*p for being yourself.

It is always surprising to hear about trolls and goofs on a site for EFL/ESL teachers where everyone-or most have a University degree. Scary.

Anyway Capergirl maybe we can unleash the Cape Breton Liberation Army on this clown. Wink The General John Cabot Trail will not stand for this!!!

Dear Gordon,

"John, I know you're packing but I'm first in line and almost half your age. Still, you've got military experience.... How about a tag team?
We could be the Caped Crusaders."

Actually, I'm not packing now and won't be for a while. I haven't even held a firearm for over 35 years now, and, to tell you the truth, I'm not looking forward to being equipped with a virtual arsenal. I'm not at all fond of guns/rifles of any sort, but I guess I'm going to have to get used to having them around. But I'm quite willing to go along with your "tag team" suggestion - as long as I'm first in the ring. After all, at my age, it's probably not wise to stand in line too long for anything.
Regards,
John

As some one who has been "labelled" as a "conservative" christian, let me say I can't think of any of your posts that I haven't enjoyed reading.

Your posts are great, and I hope you speak your mind. my impression is that you're mature and intelligent, and hope to see you in China someday, where we have had Song Girl, and Nature Girl

( I find being labelled a conservative amusing, because I worked closely with a "feminist" professor for years doing undergrad and grad work...and we agreed on so much in life.)

ditto on giving us the e-mail you got, let her rip.

AKA Chris in henan

PS, can't see JohnSlat as being Harrison Ford, who seems a little Prissy

John Slat is about 5'10, tough. short hair, bald spot, who has at least a couple of dogs, a horse, "works" a farm for fun, but hires someone for the real work, sips sangria on the veranda in the evening, but secretly has a bunch of survival gear stashed away in the hidden room underneath, along with enough books and videos, mostly stuff from the 50's, to keep him entertained for 20 years. aka Steely Dan viseo

Dear arioch36,

"John Slat is about 5'10, tough. short hair, bald spot, who has at least a couple of dogs, a horse, "works" a farm for fun, but hires someone for the real work, sips sangria on the veranda in the evening, but secretly has a bunch of survival gear stashed away in the hidden room underneath, along with enough books and videos, mostly stuff from the 50's, to keep him entertained for 20 years. aka Steely Dan viseo "

Ah, time for a reality check, I fear. I'm 5'9", no bald spot, 1 dog (a Lhasa Apso) no horse, no farm, no sangria (I'm in AA), no survival gear, no videos. Other than that, though, you're right on. However, I DO know the guy you've described above. One other thing - I'm teaching Sunday school these days at St. John Methodist, telling the locals about - what else - Islam. But it's interesting how we constuct these mental images of our fellow posters, isn't it? A Dave's ESL get-together has often been proposed. It'll never take place, of course, but maybe that's just as well. As T.S. Eliot once put it:

"Mankind cannot stand too much reality."

On the other hand, I'd still like to see it happen someday.
Regards,
John
