Hi,

I have read alot of pad press about EF on this site but I keep getting emails from them after having an interview with the head office about jobs in various brances they have. So, I was wondering if anyone has had a really great time working there and if so where it? I don`t expect anything to be perfect, I just want to be paid properly, enjoy myself and the teaching, and not get fired for no reason ( read about something like this happening in EF Urumqi)

Greetings! I have been working for EF Shanghai for almost two months and I must say that my team is very professional, great work environment and a lot of help to get started. I've been paid... on time and have nothing but good this to say about this location. It is my understanding that EF owned offices are the way to go.

EF English First is a foreign labour camp compared to other private language schools. The occasional report of a good experience at one franchise will tell you nothing about what to expect at another because the franchise is only selling its name, nothing else.

I worked at Dongying Shandong EF for 6 months.

For the most part, it was ok. I never had a problem there, except for a minor misunderstanding, but it was a communication mistake on my part.

There are good EF's and bad EF's. You need to find out about your specific EF in that specific town to be sure.

You simply can't say "All EF's are bad" just as you cannot say "All green people" or "All Vulcans" are bad based on one experience at one location.

I am usually a whiner, but this time I change my usual pattern.

As above posters have mentioned, it all depends on the specific franchise. You need to find someone who is or was working at the specific branch you are interested in going to and speak to them. Best case scenario would be to independently find multiple sources for that specific branch.

EF is a franchise school, and therefore anyone who has enough money and thinks they're organized enough and wants to open one can. The result, as I've often heard, is quite a mess.

When I was in Harbin I made friends with a guy working at EF. He hated it. I ran into him down here in Beijing awhile back and he said that by the time he had quit the whole staff (foreign and Chinese) had turned over. I've heard similar stories about the one here in Beijing.

Keep in mind that my experience is all hearsay. Again, it'd be best to choose a specific branch and search for people that way.

Definitely true. Still, be wary of EF Shenzhen, it was a while ago that I worked there, but if the management is still the same people then be afraid, be very afraid. I still have the scars.
