|
|
Hello,
Can anyone tell the cost of rent in Abu Dhabi. I am looking for a one to two bedroom apartment, not necessarily in a central area. Somewhere easily accessible with it's own amentities would do. I have about 60,000 Dh a month. Is that enough and what would I get for my money?
Also, I heard you have to pay a years rent in advance. Is that true?
Thanks |

For Dhs60,000 a month you would get a huge beach side villa. However, if your budget is Dhs60,000 a year then it should stretch to a studio or may be a one bedroom place. Usually you pay three months in advance. |

I don't know if it's different for smaller places but we've always had to pay 1 year in advance (not 3 months). |

Hi like2answe
I wish I had more information myself, but I don't
All I know is that my allowance is just over 6000 dh a month. I get to keep any excess as I have to find my own property to rent.
I don't much about areas in Abu Dhabi. Somewhere clean, quiet and safe would be nice. I'm sure I wont get much for the money, but is it enough for a 1 bedroom in a niceish area????
Thanks |

I've always heard that 1 bedrooms were pretty hard to find in Abu Dhabi (compared to Dubai). Isn't this the case? |

I was there about four years ago, and my two-bed was 120,000 per year. The company I worked for picked up the year-in-advance tab. The flat was in the middle of the island, well away from beach views and pleasant parks - and they chopped all the lovely trees down, nearby, soon after I moved in. |

Is it true that 150,000 will get you a decent 2 BDR flat in AD? |

Dubai real estate is starting to come online --- so their rents aren't going up as quickly as Abu Dhabi --- where there is a significant housing shortage.
Abu Dhabi construction is just catching up. The housing crisis will resolve in about 4-5 years. Meanwhile, it's a dog-eat-dog scene -- and prices are shooting up. It got considerably worse during my time, there.
Most of the places I saw were booked well in advance --- and most landlords that prefered one payment. A few would accept two.
Last I saw, 2 BR flats were 80-90,000
Watch out for realtors --- they're hucksters. They take 10% up front --- and they drive the price up, too. The service often stinks, and is expensive, but they're often your only option. It's a lot cheaper to have observant friends, who notice vacancy signs. |

How far in advance is "well in advance?" |

If this is still the case how much do villas go for? |

The last quote I got from someone currently looking is 85k for a studio, 120k for a 1-bed. Unbelievable really. |
