It's simple really, as you can probably imagine it is very dry here in February and March. (Not unlike Iowa winters, but there the air is dry because it's so cold.) The poor baby was completely congested and having a hard time breathing. They had tried several things and nothing worked. I boiled a large pot of water--added vick's vapor rub to the water. Put the pot at my feet, held the baby and covered him and myself with a blanket. Like people do with babies where I come from. And vuala he could breath. Wink

Good show, Melee. My ex-wife in DF loved Vick's...as if it were some kind of cure-all, but she was right about it.

Vuala was the name of a chocolate bar in Chile back in 1993...

Mexican mother-in-laws raise your kids if you let them.

My mother-in-law's classic in a loud horrified voice when I was holding my baby niece up (with her head well supported) was "What are you doing, that baby needs to lie-down, babies have to lie down all the time until they're 3 months old. You're going to hurt her." What?? I know I'm not a mum yet but I have enough friends with kids to know my way round a baby.

My husband and I have already discussed how much I'll have to bite my tongue around his family when we have kids. I just know if someone calls me 'gorda' when I'm pregnant I'll want to hit them. I've heard this one loads of times, maybe it just doesn't translate well, but it's the last thing I'd want to hear when bloated and tired Confused
