Hi there i just finished my tax forms for the first time in Japan, but for the life of me i can't find a US address to mail my federal taxes to. I have searched all over and can't find anything solid. I know that you can bring them to a embassy, but i am in Kagoshima and the closest one is Fukuoka which is pretty far. Can anyone help me out?

Hello Luckycode,

If you are using the 2555 or 2555EZ form then you need to send it to

Department of Treasury
Internal Revenue Service Center
Austin, TX 73301-0215

You do know that the first... $80,000 you make in Japan is tax free in the US, right? You havet send the forms to the IRS reguardless, but need not pay tax on money earned here unless you go over the tax-free limit.

That's if he / she meets the residency requirements, of course.

But people living overseas also have until June 15th to file. If there is anything to pay, they should file before April 15th, though, because they will have to pay interest between those dates.
