Hi,

We are a quiet family of five (children's age 10, 8 and 6) from Australia. At present we are living in South Korea, and we are thinking of moving to the Middle East and working there. We have thought of going to Dubai, but we are not sure.

We would like to know:-
* the cost of living for a family of 5
* How much we are likely to earn
* what type/ standard of accommodation is likely to be provided
* living conditions in the Middle East
* how safe is the city/country
* how easy is it to travel around by car or public transport
* good/ bad points living in the Middle East

My husband has a Masters degree, BA and B.Bus degrees, a TESOL certificate, has worked at university for 6 years and has 2 years teaching experience working in South Korea as an English teacher.

f anyone has info about UAE or other countries we should look at, please let us know.

Cheers Helen

If you can narrow down your questions, i am sure there will be plenty of people willing to give you clear answers. Just for safety, middle east is safe but you are not immune from petty crimes. For children's education, you can find all kinds of schools; brit, french, us and others.

In looking for a job I would prioritise finding an employer who pays decent educational allowances.
In UAE that would possibly mean HCT or one of the Universities. I am not sure if you still have time for academic year 2008/2009.

Have a look at the UAE Forum.

Hustle, hustle, hustle for the UAE post-secondary jobs. All the unis and colleges seem to be wrapping it up in terms of recruitment.

One question I had is what are these degrees in? Education? Business? EFL/ESL?

It can make a difference with many employers.
