I have been researching Mexico for about a month now. Most people are negative on living there, mostly because of the lack of money to be made/cost of living. But these comments are from the dozens of people that live there! What the Hell?!
Phil K., give me some of your no bullsh-- thoughts!
I just don't f------ get it. |

Where have you been doing your research? Many (most?) of the contributors to this board quite like living here and are not shy about saying so! |

I'm quite happy to be living here, or I wouldn't be here. When (if?) I find I no longer like it, then I will know it is time to move on. Sure, you have to watch your cash but that's true of many places. Besides, find the right job and place to live and it is less of a problem. |

Didn't you read the inner Mexican thread? There's some full on Mexico appreciation going on there.
I think a lot of it depends on why you came here. Most who come here because they wanted to, have a good time. I would say I prefer living in Mexico because I am able to spend half the day with my son, eat good cheap food, enjoy the sunshine and generally have a fairly stress-free life. I know I wouldn't have half that back home.
Yes, the cost of living is creeping up here but it's not a facist police state yet, which is also nice. |

Try living in the States. VERY expensive. Nowadays if you want to live in an area where you don't have to wear a bullit proof vest, you have to pay a VERY pretty penny. Plus,I never have made a lot of money in the States and everybody I know makes the same they were making years ago. Everything goes up EXCEPT salaries. |

Most of which people?
Mexicans?
Foreign English teachers?
Retirees?
People hiding from the law?
It's so secret that I'm completely in love with Mexico, Oaxaca to be specific. And I think I've managed to have a pretty good life here. |

You know, based on some email and PMs, I'm starting to suspect a troll here. |

You know, Guy, I was thinking the same thing just before I went out for a late lunch, but you beat me to it, posting it, that is. Or it could be reverse psychology. By posting a negative message about living in Mexico, the OP was sure to get all sorts of "I love living in Mexico!" responses, though why he or she would want to do that is beyond me |

To Guy and MO,
First off, I don't know what a "troll" is supposed to mean, but it doesn't sound complimentary, and I don't appreciate it. In addition, stating that you think this because of email and PM...? As you well know Guy, you offered to assist me on finding a roommate, told me to send you my info, and then didn't carry through. End of story.
Mo, of course I want to hear positive things about Mexico before moving. And anyone with a scintilla of intelligence, would do research in dozens of ways, and places. Not only this forum.
When you have a comment about something I have written, you can address it to me, instead of your pals; "You know, Guy...why he or she would want...".
How old are we here, people? I prefer the insults directly. |
