Theres a decentish Thai restaurant around the corner from the Kievskaya metro.

Kind of like asking, "What hints of Mexico do people see in Los Angeles?" |

Makes sense.
Sorry, when I think of Asia, I always think of Japan, Vietnam, etc. Didn't think of the 'Stan countries. |

Agreed- the survey is based on an expat executive lifestyle. Ok, fine, if you live in your million dollar cottage out the Rublevka in your gated community with 6 BMWs and a Mercedes or 2 then YES it gets EXPENNNNSIVE! However, if you live like a mainstream middle class type, it's not that bad. On AVERAGE it costs me a little over 1000$ (sometimes as much as 1500)LESS a month to live here than it did when I lived in Alaska. Now, when prices here catch up to or exceed that, then it's time to consider heading back to my igloo. This question comes up all the time about cost of living here and the answer is the same:it depends on how you choose to live. |
I like it, that's the way I wanna live In the meantime I will try and live off the fee of what those in Rublevo shosse is prepared to pay me.
I might just just get my houses built in Ruza and Rublevo shosse. We already have both plots of lands, now we need the houses to be built. We're not sure about so many cars , but one Rangerover will do fine.
I'm not ashamed, I intend to live decently here, I've got a family. My Russian wife would be horrified with such a statement of a $1500 income.
I think you got the currency wrong, come on please, you meant s 1500 a month, but even that's not enough for a decent standard of living here.
If you have been been settled here for some time , and you haven't managed to command a private income of 60,000 rubles per week then there is something wrong with you either as a businessman or a teacher. And you need to be both if you are a private teacher. Of course it helps if you have the assistance of a fluent Engish speaking wife or girlfriend, who also knows this business and the Russian red-tape. |

I live in Vladivostok, and I can tell you that "taking the ferry over to Japan for larks" is not a cheap proposition! You're looking at probably no less than $600 (I imagine more, though I honestly haven't looked into it) between the two countries, despite their proximity to one another.
Getting in and out of Vladivostok is very expensive... |
