| I doubt they cancelled my work endorsement within 30 days, but they certainly would have done it when they hired someone to replace me. |

Just for the information, the fine for not getting the exit stamp was $250 MN... not too bad.
But I still feel hard done by, and hope they keep their promise that it will be ready in time.
BTW, are the airport security procedures in Canada as bad as in the US? I hope not, in one of our colonies |

Hi Phil:
As a Canadian I resent the remark, even in jest. We are proudly independent of the falling U.S. dollar, real estate crisis, and we didn't join the Americans in their ill concieved war with Iraq.
I'm not as anti-American as many of my buddies because I'm more a child of the universe and like the idea of roaming the earth. But I'll gladly take our universal health care, peace, order and good government over the American life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness when the day comes when I need a room in a nursing home.

I love this! If only Canada had warm beaches, and jobs for Americans/Mexicans, we would probably end up there forever. We're still debating the possibility... |

Where did that come from? Phil K asked a question about airport security in Canada..nothing more.

Phil: I would say that, yes, Canadian airport security is as tight as in the USA. |

Yes, last time I went they were asking everyone why they were in Canada. I love the place too.
I would say in Canada they are far nicer about the tight security than in the US. In the US they just treat everyone like as though they were terrorists. Canada has the same orders but at least the fachada is pleasant. |

| guatetaliana, Canada is not necessarily a bed of roses either, and it's not just the weather. One thing that affects everyone is the high taxes, including income taxes. Canada loses professionals to other parts of the world regularly due to better jobs, higher wages and less taxes. Many off-shore workers live in Mexico (and other warm places) to avoid the Canadian government taking half of their income. And yes, thank you Canadian Govt for giving us that option. |

Not a bg deal. Have your airline give you the "formato" when you check in and go to Gate H in Terminal 1 at MEX and get the form and your visa stamped. When you return, you do not need to fill out an INM card. Just give them back the copy of the form you had stamped.
In other airports, like Hermosillo, you need to ask or look around for the "migra" office. |

Hey Canadians,
Don't take your ill-directed hatred of George Bush out on the rest of the Americans of which only 27% now support him. I despise the man, too, and will remain away from America until he and his necon accomplices are out of power. |

Hi Samantha:
The above quote referring to Canada as a Colony is where the minnie rant came from, too bad you can't see me because I was laughing.
Yes, high income tax is part of why I can escape the great white north and move to the Southern colony of Mexico, now that I'm old enough to collect a pension or two.
The thought has occurred to me that both Canada and Mexico are a little disturbed living next to the world's biggest economy.
Enough flag waving, I'm done. |

Oreen, I sincerely apologise if I upset you, but I think you got the wrong end of the stick... I'm British not American (I could resent that!!!! ). It's just my British sense of humour referring to Canada as a colony, in the same way I do Australia, NZ, SA etc.
God save our Queen! |

Oreen,
Once you arrive in Mexico you will face a lot of potential misunderstandings about where you are from.
For example Market vendor Elena asks English teacher Joe where he is from. He says Vancouver. She asks what state that is in. He says in Canada we don't have states we have provendences. She get confused and asks it it's closer to California or Florida. He says no, it's not in the United States it's a different country. She says, oh England?
It's best if you just relax, be patient and very thick skinned. |

Hey Melee. . . I've not been serious
I've been to many places where people will say, Oh, you're from Winnipeg, do you know so and so. Like I know over 500,000 people?
If you knew me in real life, and I do hope we meet 'cause Oaxaca is one of the places I look forward to visiting, you'd know I have a very thick skin.
However, thanks for your concern.
I'm now off to make advertiising signs to promote my first yard sale, prior to putting my house up for sale.
I'm selling lots of good stuff. Satuarday 10 to 6 . .wanna come? |
