Someone recently posted in one of the threads in either this forum or the other that according to SAFEA regulations, employers are supposed to cover the cost of shipping some of their FT's personal belongings home. I don't recall which thread and can't find it by searching using various keywords. However, I did ask my FAO guy today and he told me that he was aware of the regulation. However, he also said that my school only used it to help the Japanese FT's, as their allowed baggage allowance is lower than those of other FT's like myself (32 kg x 2 flying China Eastern from Dalian to Vancouver via Shanghai).
I guess they don't feel they have to pay for shipping a departing FT's collection of DVD's.  |

I just did a search on "safea", it was near the top of the results...
I don't think I've heard of anyone shipping a cubic metre of stuff back OS at their school's expense. I could certainly use that if I ever go back to Australia. Nice heavy things like dozens and dozens of books...
