Hey... we've all been there.
I'd still get that CELTA. You really aren't prepared at all to teach ESL/EFL. Believe me, it will be worth the investment. It will save your life (professionally).

Welcome to the real world... my first thought was 10 years? then OK 5 years?
More seriously, the first job is normally not grand - financially or professionally. Survival and hopefully enough to make the minimum debt payments. But once you have a CV that employers will look at, things will start to improve and you can get a position that will help get rid of those education loans. Once you have 2-3 years of solid experience on your CV, things will start coming together.
Every time you change jobs or countries, you will have a year of lean savings because of the travel and shipping and getting set up expense - buying a car, etc.

was afraid of that--want to switch countries a bit, but might never be able to pay off loans at that rate, huh?
thanks for the reality check.
looking into japan. seems much easier to land work there, and i'd probably be able to have some extra cash for los loanskis. still not sure about the celta. it'd just clean me out. i wouldn't be able to leave for a long time after. might just go with one of the many companies that will hire me without. |

Certainly not much chance in Saudi or the other Gulf States. Korea ? Japan ? I hear they like youngsters there - especially WASPs. Being blue-eyed, blonde and female are usually pluses too. |
