Maybe someone on here can help me. I bought Jeff's ESL guidebook for Canadians and Americans. After reading it, I decided I wanted to take his distance learning course through his English-International Website.
The site said there were openings in the course I wanted to take. I emailed him and let him know that I was interested in taking the course, but that I would appreciate being put in touch with a referral. Somewhere on the site or in his book, he mentions that reputable prorams won't mind providing this.
Anyways, I never heard back from him! I was so disapointed. Is he just not offering that anymore, or did I offend him with my request? If the course isn't being offered, he really should take down or update the Website. |

How long has it been, Ashby? I run a TESOL course which is somewhat less famous than Jeff's, but sometimes recieve several hundred inquiries in a week.
Maybe he just hasn't had much time free yet?
I doubt very much that you've offended him- all good courses, and Jeff has a good rep, will be happy to put you in touch with previous grads.
That said- email is also sometimes unreliable. MAybe yours got lost, or sorted into his junk mail. If it's been a while without a response, I'd send it again.
Good luck,
Justin |

Justin is right. Send it again. Get it on top of his pile. He does juggle a lot at the same time. |

Hey guys,
Thanks for the advice. I do realize that email is sometimes unreliable, and that certain addresses can accidentally get sorted into the spam box. I hadn't thought of the possibility of hundreds of others applying and my inquiry getting lost in the shuffle.
I did forget to mention that I sent a follow-up a week after the original was sent out. Naturally, my first assumption was that he is no longer offering the course. I'm not sure if I am going to resend it or not. I already started looking into other options. I spoke with someone who completed an in class course with Oxford Seminars, and they said that it prepared them for the job the job they currently have in Argentina. It's a 60 hour course, but I figure if I suppliment that with some ESL volunteering that I set up on my own I should be well prepared.
Anyways, I appreciate the feedback
Best,
Ashley |
