Recruitment is definitely a problem and it is true, people are hired to fill gaps who may not have been hired under ideal circumstances. Obviously university teaching is more sedate than school life, but from what i have heard the uni gigs here in Saudi would kill me with monotony. Dunno about the military, but it seems awful at first glance...

Wow.....how attractive...

Actually, Kepler makes the school sound like a mini fascistic prison.

Hardly a major point for attracting new staff I'd have thought.

"Wow, I really must apply to King Faisal school. I mean, hey, fitness is encouraged for English teachers, and I can even run on the track in my extra hours on the school premises.Hey, what a job. Can't refuse it."

I am not even going to apologize for my cynicism.......hmmm.....Hamster on a treadmill anyone?

No -- I'd bet my money that NCTBA's post is spot on. Warning lights I'd say, to all but the most desperate.

Just a hunch.....

( NCTBA, I didn't understand the part in your post about religious police objecting to your "t's?" Can you elaborate further? )

Well, it seems that all is coming up roses with Kepler. I wish him all the best. Now, one of the Mods seems to feel that I was unfair in that, according to the Mod, the UPP is entirely separate from the KFS. I disagreed with the Mod then and I disagree now. The fact that they both are funded by the King Faisal Foundation DOES NOT separate them entirely. Consider the condition if the KFS could not meet its recruitment goal due to the sterling reputation it has forged for itself. How much heartburn does one think the Foundation would have over seconding someone hired for the UPP to the KFS? That senario WOULD make the connection.

That said, the way to lower case "t" is typically drawn is a vertical line crossed near the top by a short horizontal line (NOT the way the font produces a lower case "t" by the font used by Dave's). According to the lunatics who consider themselves the protectors of virtue and the preventers of vice (I refer to the actual name of the mutawwa organization), the lower case 't" looks too much to them as the Christian cross on which Christ was cruxified.

By the by, redeyes, you just helped me remember another wonderful experience that I had there. One day all of my 7th graders started refering to me by my last name sans the "Mr.". As, ever since my stint with the military I hated being called by last name only, I requested the students refer to me properly when addressing me. They refused and when I required an explanation, was told the the mutawwa which roamed the halls instructed them that they were not to address any of the Western teachers as "Mister" as it sounded too much like "Master" and after all, how could a Muslim EVER have a Crusader "master" Question Question Question

Kepler and his ilk deserve everything that's coming to them. God-Bless, 'em!

NCTBA

P.s.- "Mutawwa" is singular, I really should be using "Mutawain" as they hunt in packs. Rolling Eyes Laughing Rolling Eyes

Thanks NCTBA.The place sounds like a prison.

It's good that the goings on at the school can be exposed for what they really are on boards such as these.
