I have been offered a job by Bryan Wang but he seems a little reticent with any specifics. Anyone with any experience?

I couldn't swear to it, but I think this might be an alias of our old friend Frank Zhang (other aliases abound on his e-mails) who has received a lot of bad press on the net, and has personally sent me rafts of contacts with less than savoury looking schools. Whether the stories about him are true or not, from what I have seen from my contact, it is better to steer clear of him.

Good rule of thumb: No details about a school = not worth the hassle that will likely envelop you when you get there.

I strongly second that as well. From personal experience, Frank Zhang never gave any details and was infamous for bait-and-switch.

Anyone who doesn't give you complete disclosure of all details is going to screw you hard later if you are foolish enough to deal with them.

he also gave me a job some days ago, but he provided the job details and a sample contract to me. Maybe you can ask him to send a contract to you if you are interested.

I had a bad experience with him. The job that he mentioned in the emails was not the job that was presented to me once I arrived in China. The school was supposed to be in Shanghai, but he told me after he picked me up that the job wasn't good. He claimed that he had a better job in Suzhou. He ended up driving me to a university that was about an hour away from Suzhou. The school was surrounded by factories and the nearest town/market area was 50 min bus ride away. I told him that I didn't want the job, so he took me to another school that could not legally hire foreign teachers. The school wanted me to work on an L visa. I have since decided to try to find a job on my own. I suggest that you don't let him pressure you into a job.

Indeed, it seems that the notorious Frank Zhang may be using yet another alias. When I first dealt with him last Fall, he was calling himself, 'Sang Xing'. The man has been known to use over 25 aliases. What do you think this says about his career as a recruiter?

Well, I can also personally attest that if this is the same guy I crossed paths with back then, you should stop all communication with the guy. He did a bait & switch with me in Shanghai and sold me down the river to some unknown 'satellite' city called...hmm, I forgot the name, so you get the point. He is the worst kind of C-recruiter. Lies, lies, and more lies, and he goes into total jerk mode if things aren't going great with you and the school. For example, sending belligerent, threatening emails saying that you may be fired, have money deducted, etc.

You may find a library of posts about him on the eslteachersboard.com. Query 'Frank Zhang' and read all about him and try to cross reference his contact info posted there by other teachers with what he may have sent you. He will often sign off his emails with, 'Warm regards to you and your family'.

Btw, if 'Bryan' sounds like a transvestite to you while he speaks on the phone - and get him talking on the phone - then it's definitely Frank. Better yet, try to contact school admins directly rather than using C-recruiters. They are just too bad to deal with over here.

Thanks for the info. If this guy is Frank Zhang or some other alias I have stopped communicating with him after a few emails "when can you come"
"Can you come soon" etc with no actual details on anything and then after ignoring him contracts arrive. I know things are done differently in China but......wouldn't deal with this chap.
Cheers.
