This day in age, chilango means anyone who lives in Mexico City, and it's a source of pride. Soy chilango, y que?

Who bashes NYC? That town is 2nd to Mexico City in my books, and that's a high ranking. My only issue with NYC is the push n' shove in the streets...a little less civilized than DF, but otherwise, a great, great city.

I think that there's a lot more pushing and shoving in the D.F. Metro than on the NYC subway, but then I rarely rode the latter during rush hour, so maybe my perception is a little skewed!

Well, the push n shove I got in NYC was street level and whilst handicapped on crutches. Otherwise, the subway was grand. Dirty, but people were helpful.

NYC is the only other place in the world I would live after Mexico City.

Oh, I didn't read your previous post carefully - that doesn't sound nice at all! Maybe the people who pushed you were from out-of-town! The next time I'm in NYC I'll get you a trinket with "I 'heart' NYC" on it.

Capitalino...there are some like that here. My favorite is Melee's take on DF. Defectosos. Nothing like country bumpkin in town to set us all straight. Wink

For people from a city like New York, Mexico City, Los Angeles--and maybe others. Everything outside the city is irrelavent to them. And that's okay, we can forgive them that. But what we can't forgive them is not realizing that it's the opposite for us. They think everything outside the city is irrelavent period.

Of course there are all sorts of folks everywhere.

I guess the same could be said of people in small towns also. People (no matter where they're from) get caught up in just surviving these days. Or so it seems. My sisters live in a small town in Indiana and they have no clue that there is life outside of their towns. Same mentality of people in the cities.
