Hello everyone,

I will be moving to Shanghai soon to try to find an English teaching job, but I'm planning on moving on from there in order to find a job in a different part of Asia at the beginning of 2009.

I'm trying to figure out where I should set my sights on for my next stop. I am looking primarily for a warm climate, hopefully with a beach, with enough interesting things to do to last me awhile (I currently live in New York City and while I wouldn't mind somewhere less urban, I don't want to be bored out of my mind). Preferably a relaxed atmosphere friendly to open-minded people. I was looking into Indonesia (Bali in particular) but was frightened by what seem to be strict visa requirements and difficulty finding a job. Does anyone have ideas of other places that might be more hospitable? Any secret enclaves of amazing people with work opportunities that you know about? Anywhere you can live for less than a year starting Jan. '09?
