Does anyone know anything about Webster University in Thailand?

Are they legit? Looks interesting on the website but any information would be appreciated. |

As far as I know they are legit. I edited a publication of the (then) Thai Ministry of University Affairs in the mid-90s and they were included in it and have been included in all subsequent editions of the book. |

I see they started as a Catholic college almost 100 years ago but are now nondenominational. Are they for profit like the University of Phoenix, or a traditional non-profit like most US private colleges/universities? They have campuses all over the US now. Personally I find U. of Phoenix and for-profit colleges rather odious so I'm trying to figure out if they are before I apply for a position there. |

From memory they are a private university which means they are in it for the money. I suspect they'll be like most other private unis in Thailand although I've had no experience with them. Check out the Thai ministry of edication, higher education office and their website (google it). |

I worked for a company in a building at the Chitlom skytrain exit and Webster was in an office a few floors above me. I went to a recruiting presentation of theirs one night, and yes, they are legit. They were in the process of opening a new location near Hua Hin (I forget exactly where) so I got the feeling they were a diploma mill but hey, what the hell, everyone's entitled to make a buck. |

I work in the M.E., for AMIDEAST. Teachers who hold degrees from American unis and need their diplomas authenticated and verified must come to us. I checked with the educational adviser who then checked with the head office in Washington. Webster University is on the list of accredited universities. |
