Hi,
I'll be going to HK in August and am new to the forum.
Can you help me please?

How long did it take for all your teacher permits and visa to come through?

I am flying from Bangkok, which airline would you recommend please?

I'll be flying in from Bangkok in August as well. I'm on Cathay Pacific. They're not the cheapest option out there but their fares seem to be more stable than what Thai's charging lately. AirAsia's great if you don't have much luggage. That's where they get you. If you've got anything larger than one medium-sized suitcase, you're going to pay for it. If you're travelling with enough to make a move, you might ultimately be better off on one of the region's larger carriers. Check the Cathay website. They often have very good discount fares.

Excess baggage rates might be steep but if you're coming here to work as a NET, you'll get a baggage allowance - small and definitely inadequate, but it's something to offset the actual cost.

You can bring your extra baggage with you or send as unaccompanied baggage or freight.

Current allowance is around 1300HKD for singles and 5000HKD for married teacher accompanied by spouse and/or children.
