Anyone know how to go about getting the injection to prevent hay fever in Madrid?

If you have your EU working papers then get yourself down to your medical centre, if you're not signed up there they will give you a provisional number if you bring your passport along, then make an appointment to see a doctor.

If you don't have papers then you can go to your nearest pharmacy: they are very knowledgeable and happy to give fairly impartial advice on what medicine you might need (obviously not an injection though) and it's surprising how you can buy medicines here without a prescription that would be impossible to buy over the counter in the UK.

Can't help with your OP but what does ''mise me fein'' mean? I'm familiar with ''fein'' from Sinn Fein.

If it's an injection to tease your immune system, you want to be careful.

Them critters can sometimes cause a Laryngospasm which means you can't get air down your throat while it's going on. You want to make sure they are set up to deal with that and that you stick around a half hour or so after the shot.

You can buy "Loratadina" very cheaply in any pharmacy.

it�s a steroid injection. I�ve got it in Ireland loads of times and it does me for 3 months.

Boy does that ever take me back. They used to use long term steroids for a life threatening case of asthma or something like that back in the day when it was all they had. They figured they would just have to eat the consequences if and when the steroid's side effects got too pronounced.

You know I just recently saw the MD in Astorga at the health center when my hip started bothering me. They were quite nice and the doc waived his fee when he find out I was on the camino. But even when I saw an MD in Nimes, it only cost $20 which is chicken feed compared to what a US MD would charge and certainly less than dealing with the possible side effects of long term steroid usage.

You might want to check in there, especially if you have a health card and ask for a second opinion on that steroid shot - I would ask for a consult from an allergist. I would ask if you could get along on something like Montelukast (Singulair) , instead.

I know the pollen was really sending my allergies crazy once the gorse came into bloom in Leon. I got fairly good control with the over the counter Loratadine. Now that I am back in the states, I am using Cetrizine (Zirtek) currently and even with the orchards in bloom, I am getting very good control with almost no drowsiness.

That's good. I worked as an RN 40 years before I took up EFL teaching. I've got a very healthy respect for steroid side effects.
