Does anyone know where I could find a teaching job only during the Hajj vacation? I'm free Jan 27 - Feb 6. Where are opportunities available?
What do people do here during the vacation (those of us without families!)?

Thanks. Titanicman

In the twovacations in Saudi for Hajj and Ramadan there is not a lot happening in terms of teaching. I have never heard of anyone landing a teaching assignement in this period.

You might get private lessons but MAKE SURE THEY PAY YOU.

It's a holiday. Relax. Watch TV. Read. Chill out !

Why don't you take a vacation like everyone else?

Where's a good place to drive to in KSA? Where would you recommend going to do on vacation? Would the West Coast be pretty crowded b/c of Hajj? How about the East Coast?

One and a half million pilgrims head to Mecca and Medina so it is best to avoid that area - the whole of the Hejaz.

Go to Abha or the south, Nejran, Jaizan.

Remember that you may still need a travel letter from your sponsor

You'll frreesze in Abha at this time of year!

Roads near Makkah at Hajj time are death traps or permanent traffic jams deciding on your luck.

If you're in Riyadh, and can't get a visa to leave, then try Khobar for a couple of days.

You could try driving along the old Ottoman railway to Maidan Salah, but you will need permission from the Department of Antiquites in Riyadh to visit Maidan Salah, and of course you will need a four wheel drive. You will pass by Madinah but I did it a few years ago at Haj time without any hassle.
