Considering that, for some, it is a puente....
...why are puentes (for the most part) gone? |
Cos they encourage laziness and are non productive for the countries economy!!!!
I had an appointment today (Friday), and it seemed strange to get kitted up again for one day, when I was already in weekend mood. |
Yes, it is sad to think that people would like time to enjoy life, rather than just working their way through it.
It was nice having the time, and the energy, to spend two hours at the park with the dogs. For once, they are tired! (Well, for the next hour or so!) |

Why is there so much dust/dirt here?
And why, if there is so much, is using a vacuum seen as a boneheaded gringo move? (Apparently there is a gringo stereotype of us doing nothing but constantly Hoovering when cleaning.)
I finally saw someone pull out the vacuum to use the other day, but then she started using the 'blow' setting to just blow the dust off of some things, into the air, to later settle upon other things. I just don't get it. |

I had to buy one as my last depto had carpeting, and I finally got sick, and tired (very tired!) of trying to sweep it! I was surprised (not sure why though) at how hard it was to find one!
And why are toasters so hard to find?
Finally saw some in Sears the other day, but Im not interested in paying $100 dollars for one! |

| I once saw a woman cleaning a carpet in the reception of a medical consultancy... with a jalador and floor cloth! (And water) |

We got 2 as wedding presents! We're using one and the other is standing by in it's original packing over 5 years later.
We (I) asked for a kettle too, and surprise, surprise, someone knew what it was and we got one. Gas kettle, mind you, why can't you find an electric kettle, which is much faster? (I guess I already know the answer, that nobody uses them - you know, cup of instant coffee? Water in the cup, heat to luke-warm in the microwave, et voila! |

Hah. I heard a lecture on this once. Well, sort of. It's because you can buy your toast pre-toasted! Isn't that so much better than freshly made toast? Somehow, the lecturing party was trying to convice me that it was great that Bimbo found a use for all of it's old bread by toasting and selling it... I for one prefer the toaster. |

| We've adjusted and now make toast on the comal. It does occasionally result in burnt toast after we become distracted by something else, but our current system apparently (according to the post above) has saved us $100! |

I use the oven, but it never toasts as nicely (nor as fast!). However, the $100 savings does help to improve the taste! |

| When my parents came over the first time, my culturally sensitive father-in-law immediately bought them a toaster from Walmart. I don't think it was more than $300 pesos, which reminds me - why can't I find a decent bagel here anymore? HEB stopped selling them for some reason. |

Someone who works in Bimbo told me it is a whole process
Old bread = Toast bread
Old Toast bread = Pan Molido (Breadcrumbs) |

Having been spoiled by having access to real bagels all my life (in Philly and NYC), I never even bothered looking for them in Mexico. Has anyone found the real thing in the D.F.? I have no idea what HEB is, by the way. |

| There is bagel-shaped bread in some of the big supers. Never found the real thing. Could be out there somewhere though. |

Bagel-shaped bread is like the croissant-shaped rolls you can find in the bakery department of Superama, far from the real wonderfully-flaky, buttery croissants you can find in French bakeries back home. |
