I'm about to go trekking in the north woods and I have bought myself a satellite beacon as I will be traveling alone.
It occurs to me that this might (perhaps) be useful for some EFL teachers who are way off the beaten path - say in Hanty-Minsk or someplace.
It cost abou $150 from Amazon and there is a $99 yearly fee. Included in the service = you may send a short message with your GPS fix without having to punch in the 911 code. I checked and the unit covers Europe, Asia and the Northern half of Africa. |
