So we're scheduled to leave for Abu Dhabi around August 9th or so, but we won't be in permanent housing for at least 2-4 weeks. I've contacted the AVC and the British Clinic. AVC has told me that they are already booked up through the month of August. Leaving her behind to be sent later is rather tricky. Does anyone know of "cat sitters" who could house her until we sort out our permanent accommodation? We'd gladly pay the going rate. |

What the? What concept of pet don't 'local Arabic people' have that we (i.e you) have? I am interested to know, because stereotypes fascinate me. An Australian once told me he was from the south, but I insisted on calling him a westerner. He showed me a map and now I believe that he comes from the south. Who knew that Wagga Wagga is south of Sydney. This guy's mother is Lebanese and his dad is Egyptian. They were born in Adelaide and they ran a haberdashery store. Man, I am so confused. |

Have a look at this site - there is a current thread about 'catterys'. If those leads don't work out, it would also be a good site to ask if there would be anyone here over the summer who would be prepared to look after your cat - there are often teenagers looking to make a bit of money.

Mish--there's a cattery in Um Al Quwain that isn't too bad depending upon how spoiled your cat is--big cages, round-the-clock attendant.
Feline Friends Abu Dhabi might help you find a foster home for a fee--they're always looking at ways to raise funds and since the foster home would definitely be temporary, you and the organization might come to some sort of mutually beneficial arrangement. |

Those are both really helpful, Kiefer. I did find a spot at the British Vet Clinic in Abu Dhabi after all. Has anyone had experience w/ them? |

I know someone who works/used to work for them and she's a real animal-lover. I can't imagine her working for a place that wasn't absolutely top-notch. Hope this helps.

That does help. THanks. Especially since she may be there for up to a month. |

Jonathan who runs Brit Vet in Abu Dhabi is top notch. There is the American Vet but these names mean nothing as Brits and Americans (and other nationals) work at both. Brit Vet does more pro-bono work for Feline Friends--hint hint |

I'm not completely sure, but am 99% sure that the AVC is South African owned so, yeah, names of nationalities mean nothing here (or there!)
