How common is it to get a washer/oven/fridge in your new place? My last place in Dubai had these, but I'm not sure if that's the norm.

If it's not that common, how much am I looked at dropping on these?

I don't know anyone in AD who has been assigned to housing or who has a housing allowance and lives in a place furnished with a major appliances. That doesn't mean this doesn't happen.

The norm is a furniture allowance, most of which seems to get spent in two places: Ikea for furniture and Carrefour for appliances. These two don't have monopolies of course, but they tend to be ex-pat magnets.

Marina Mall---one stop shopping.

Of course, since you are already in the UAE, I'm sure you'll consider the Ma Salama sales already underway.

But but... MM hasn't quite returned yet...

I had told her that back in my day it was very very rare for a flat to come with appliances in AD. She was hoping that someone would tell her that things had changed.

Sorry MM... Wink

It's possible, but I wouldn't say common. Maybe if you move into a newer building?

my flat had zip, nutin, nada.......

That included:
- water filter
- ceiling light fixtures
- fridge
- washer
- cooker

I have a friend who was fortunate enough to get a villa --- but he had to buy the AC units. So --- I guess I feel lucky.
