chkl, Obviously you are not referring to Dubai Women's.

VS, I am glad you enjoyed the women students so much. Post-Intifada and post-9/11, I did not, not at DWC. They were extremely unfriendly to male Americans. That's why I left. The boys at the Petroleum Institute had more common sense and were more easygoing. Their admissions standards were much higher than HCT's, which helped.

I have been in the HCT system for just over a year. Teaching at the local Womens' College has been the BEST job I have ever had - and I say that after teaching since about 1971 in Canada, the USA and Australia.

Teaching polite adults is an EXTREME joy. Yes, they have difficulties/issues, but so do all students.

Like I have said to others in various PMs - No groping nor cursing in the hallways... No drug sales nor useage in campus... polite and mostly willing to learn Smile

Yes, a few of my friends - mostly male - said that there was a period of blowback caused by the activities of the US government. That seems to have settled down with time. And I agree that the male students in general do tend to be more laid-back and easier to handle. My experience agrees with that... Laughing

Yes...although the Intifada and 9/11 were not activities of the US government. The period I was referring to was directly after 9/11 and, previously, during the Intifada.

Some colleges are 'offloading' staff to CERT. The criteria are not specified, so subjectivity seems to be at play.

The HCT tends to use the newer Russian model of management. Medvedev would be in his element.
