Hello everyone.
Just joined the board and I've noticed there is very little information on TCLC (Tokyo Center for Language and Culture). I was thinking of applying to work there starting in the fall, and I was hoping that someone out there has info about working conditions, salary, management, etc.
My advisor worked for them about twenty years ago, so I don't know how much things have changed since then. |

I work for them p/t in Nagoya teahing corporate classes. I can't speak for the Tokyo branch, but the Nagoya branch is one of the best companies I have ever worked for.
They've been around a long time and seem to know what they are doing. |

Their site doesn't mention whether or not the contracts are mostly part or full time. Do they offer both options or are most workers part timers?
They also say minimum salary would be 3 million yen annually. Is that typical for most starting employees?
I'm aiming for the Tokyo branch as I know people in the area and I'll have a cousin living there for a year starting in August. I've also been to Tokyo before and quite liked it. (I either like super urban places or the middle of the woods, rather extreme contrasts.)
Is TCLC pretty good about giving people their first choice of city?
Thanks for answering my questions so far. |

They do hire f/t employees and 3 mil yen a year sounds about right. I'm not sure how they are about sending you to diffrent cities, but I would guess that most of their contracts are in Tokyo, so you can probably get posted there.
Are you living in Japan now? My concern would be whether or not they hire people living outside of Japan. Many companies don't. You might want to contact them and find out. Good luck.
